MP3 Data Grooming by Digital Librarian
Online music databases use input from thousands of people, each able to take their own view on the proper way to label an album. The result - confusion, contradiction, inconsistency, chaos. To enjoy your music your album data must be consistent but bringing order to this chaos is a massive task even for a modest CD collection.
What is the data we groom? This is embedded within the file which is played by your computer, iPod, Sonos or other audio system. This data lets you see who is performing, the track name, composer, album - plus a lot of quite obscure details. If it isn’t indexed correctly you can’t find what you’re looking for. If you can’t find it you won’t be able to enjoy your music.
Digital Librarian, our MP3 data editing feature, corrects this and it’s all part of the service. Yes, it’s FREE.
Inconsistent Disc Numbering
Disc 1, CD-2, 2, Two, Vol 2?
We fix it - each CD set is numbered (Disc 1), (Disc 2) and so on.
Classical Composer Names
Can be a real mess with Mozart, Mozart WA, Wolfgang Mozart. It seems everyone has a different idea over composers names and that makes it a mess for you. Try finding all your Beethoven, Verdi or Chopin when every record company has a different approach to naming.
Instead we standardise on composer’s second name only so you get Mozart, Bach, Wagner. All composer names come together in the correct group.
Mixed Up “Best of” and “Greatest Hits”
You can easily get one or two albums which throw together the works of Elton John, The Beach Boys, Tina Turner and others who have released Greatest Hits or Best of compilations.
Instead we add the artist’s name to Best of and Greatest Hits so your library is clear and easy to access. Best of Elton John, Best of The Beach Boys - clear and simple.
Album Art
As a matter of course we search for and download album art which is safely embedded in each track. The process isn’t 100% accurate - in some cases the cover art isn’t available publicly, and sometimes the image we get is slightly different to the cover on your CD.
Too much detail?
Many albums contain pointless test such as Bonus Content, [UK] or [Live].
We strip that all away so you can better identify your music.
Special genres?
If you’d like a non-standard genre, for example Opera, we can create that for you.
Duplicates
We go through each collection to remove duplicate albums, so you pay less and get a better MP3 library.
